Giving Joy and Music
Written by Jabin Lee
On Wednesday 08/24, the members of Giving Tree went to Minuteman Senior Services in Arlington, Massachusetts to perform a variety of beautiful music for the senior citizens. From classics like Claire De Lune by C. Debussy to a fun Table Duet by W. A. Mozart, the audience enjoyed each performance with smiles on their faces. We even ended the concert with a catchy sing-along song that the audience could clap and sing along to!
It was great to hear from the residents themselves about how our concerts made them feel. One resident said that their favorite part of the week was hearing us play. We are so happy to hear this and we hope to bring many more wonderful concerts! Another resident said that she hasn’t been able to go to a concert since her husband’s death and that this was her first performance since then. We were so thrilled to be able to give her an experience she hasn’t felt in years! A couple of other residents talked to us about how when they were younger, they played the same pieces we performed! It is really amazing to see different generations connect through the power of music!
We are so grateful to have the opportunity to perform for these residents! We can’t wait to see what is to come! Giving Tree hopes to bring many more awesome and heart warming memories to the residents of various senior centers. We loved sharing our talents with the community in ways that might not seem giant but brings a huge light in these residents’ lives:)
