Warm Meals Amidst Chilly Weather
Written by Eunjeh Sung
Brrrrr it is getting quite cold outside. Though the weather is rapidly changing, we notice that the community members are still wearing pretty light clothing. We have started a sweatshirt drive to collect donations of warm winter clothing! Please donate!
As always we start off with the pantry. The pantry is the first part to our day. We organize the donations by categories and call each community member by ticket number. This is to ensure everyone’s safety and organization. Each person goes through the line choosing what they want and the volunteers help give them out and restock the section.
While the pantry is being distributed, others are preparing the desserts. For desserts we normally have various different types of cakes, cupcakes, cookies, pies, and other sorts of pastries. These are then cut and prepared onto small plates that make it easy to serve after the meal.
As shown in the photos above, various delicious types of foods were prepared and then served. These include ravioli, salmon, steamed vegetables, and some soup.
I hope everyone who came today stays warm. Thank you everyone who came today to serve! We hope to see you next week!
